If you are moving from another loyalty, rewards, or store credit app, Flits has a dedicated Migration section that lets you bring your existing customer data over including points, store credit, and VIP tiers. You can migrate using a CSV file or by connecting directly to a supported app.
Before starting, make sure your source data is accurate. Migration updates customer balances in Flits to match the source data you provide.
What you can migrate
Go to Migration in your Flits Admin. Under What do you want to migrate?, select one or more of:
- Points
- Store credit
- VIP tier
Note: VIP tier import is available only after you have set up VIP tiers in Flits. This tells Flits which tier each imported customer belongs to. If tiers are not set up yet, this option will be greyed out with a Set up VIP tiers link to take you there first.
The sample CSV template changes based on what you select. For example, a template for Points only has different columns than a template for Points and VIP tier. Always download a fresh sample template for your current selection rather than reusing an older one.
Choose where your data is coming from
Option 1: Upload a CSV File
Use this option if you are exporting data from your previous app, or from another source, into a spreadsheet.
- Select Upload a CSV file.
- Click Download sample CSV to get the template that matches your selected migration data.
- Click Add CSV file and upload your completed file.
Maximum upload limit: 50 MB. You do not need to split large files below this limit.
Option 2: Import from a 3rd-Party App
Use this option if the app you are moving away from is directly supported by Flits.
- Select Import from a 3rd-party app.
- Choose your app from the 3rd-party app dropdown.
- Follow the prompt to connect the app. Flits will pull customer balances directly through the app’s API, with no CSV required.
Currently supported: Smile.io.
Important: Whichever method you choose, customer balances in Flits will be updated to exactly match the balances in your uploaded CSV or the connected app. This is a sync to match, not an addition on top of existing balances. Double-check your source data before proceeding.
Don't see your app in the list?
Support for additional third-party apps is rolled out based on merchant demand. If the app you are migrating from is not listed, email support@getflits.com with the app name. We will log the request and let you know once it is supported.
In the meantime, you can still migrate by using Upload a CSV file and exporting your data from the previous app.
Sync data with marketing apps
Toggle on Sync data with marketing apps if you want your migrated points data to stay up to date in the third-party marketing apps you have already connected to Flits.
This is useful if you plan to trigger campaigns based on migrated loyalty data later, for example, a points balance reminder email sent through your marketing app. This option takes effect only if the relevant integration is already set up and active in Flits.
Preview before you commit
Once your data source is set, you will see two options at the bottom of the page:
- Preview report - Runs a check on your file or data and shows what will be imported, skipped, or flagged before anything is applied. Use this option to catch issues first.
- Migrate now - Starts the migration immediately. Use this option if you are confident that your file or connected data is correct.
After you start a migration
- You will receive an email once the process completes, with a detailed report of what was imported.
- You can review the outcome at any time from View import history in the top-right corner of the Migration page.
Checking import history
Click View import history to see all past migrations. You can filter results by All, Completed, or Failed.
