Overview

The Wishlist Status setting controls whether wishlist functionality is active on your storefront. When enabled, customers can save products from product pages, collection pages, and the wishlist page. When disabled, all wishlist UI components are hidden, but your data and configurations remain stored.

This article explains when to enable or disable wishlist, how the setting works, and what to expect on the storefront.

What Happens When Wishlist Is Enabled

When Wishlist Status → ON:

  • Wishlist buttons load on product pages

  • Wishlist icons appear on collection pages

  • Wishlist page becomes accessible

  • Variant popup (if enabled) is triggered on save

  • Customer account wishlist (legacy or new) becomes active

  • All wishlist interactions begin recording in analytics

Enabling wishlist fully activates the user-facing components and back-end data tracking.

What Happens When Wishlist Is Disabled

When Wishlist Status → OFF:

  • All wishlist buttons and icons are removed from the storefront

  • Customers cannot add items to wishlist

  • Wishlist page is hidden

  • Variant popup is disabled

  • Wishlist activity stops recording

Important:
Your existing wishlist data, analytics, and customer wishlists remain stored. You can re-enable the feature anytime without losing data.

How to Enable or Disable Wishlist

  1. Go to Flits Wishlist in your Shopify Admin

  2. Open Wishlist Setup

  3. Find Wishlist Status

  4. Toggle ON or OFF

  5. Click Save if prompted

Changes apply instantly on your storefront.

Recommended Times to Disable Wishlist

You may temporarily disable wishlist if:

  • You are performing a storefront redesign

  • You are migrating to a new theme

  • You are troubleshooting display issues

  • You want to test placements or colors privately

  • You are running A/B tests without wishlist for a limited period

Disabling wishlist does not interrupt analytics history; it only hides the UI.

Troubleshooting Visibility

If wishlist buttons do not appear even when enabled:

  • Confirm that the theme embed is active (via Theme Editor → App Embeds)

  • Re-save your theme after enabling the embed

  • Make sure the specific product/collection settings are also ON

  • Check your theme for custom code overriding button containers

If all settings are correct but the wishlist still doesn't appear, proceed to the troubleshooting article in Folder A.

Next Step

Now that wishlist is active, configure where and how the wishlist button appears.
