Before understanding how to set up prompt let's first understand what is a prompt and types of prompt. 


What is a prompt?

In order to create a 'Subscriber' you need to send out an alert nudging visitors to accept notifications. 

The image above is a prompt asking visitors to accept notifications. 


Types of prompt

1) There are mainly two types of Prompt- Default & Custom. 

The third type of prompt setting is No prompt 


2) IOS prompt is another category applicable for IOs device


How to set up prompt?

To set up prompt Go to Notifications > Push notification set up>  prompt type

1.1 Default prompt

Default prompt is a prompt that is show directly on top of the screen to visitors. It cannot be customized due to browser restrictions. 

You can set up default after selecting the opt-in timings. 


1.2 Custom prompt

The Custom Prompt is a subscription method that displays a widget at the top center of the screen. You can personalize it with your own messaging to explain the benefits of subscribing to your store. 


By using the Custom Prompt, you can decrease the block rate (the number of times visitors click 'Block' instead of 'Allow' on the prompt) compared to using the default prompt. It also allows you to request permissions again if a visitor declines the initial prompt.

> Upload store's logo

> Input title

> Input description

> Edit Allow button text

> Edit Later button text


> Select opt in positions for desktop & mobile

> Set delay time for Desktop and mobile


> You can preview texts and logo changes on your left. 


You can set up custom prompt after click on save. 


When you set up custom prompt it allows visitors to either receive the prompt again (later) or allow. Once they click on Allow visitors will receive the default prompt. 


A few browsers do not allow default prompts until and unless there is an activity on the screen. To initiate the activity it's advisable to use a custom prompt which then initiates that activity making room to allow default prompt on screen. 


1.3 No prompt

If you set up no prompt option then new visitors will not receive opt-in alert. 

This means that you will not get any new subscribers after you set no prompt option. 


2. IOS prompt

IOS prompt allow you to show notifications on IOS devices. Since you cannot send push notifications or custom prompts directly on IOS devices. 

You can edit the title and description. 


Once this is set up customers can Open your website URL> on iOS device.

The IOS Prompt will appear with instructions for your store visitors

Once they tap the "Share" icon at the bottom of the web screen and select "Add to Home Screen."

The website will now appear as an icon on your home screen.

When visitors Click on the web app icon on the home screen and they can see the prompt asking to subscribe.
