This guide outlines the different types of subscription prompts available for your website, each designed to enhance user engagement and compatibility. It will help you choose and configure the best prompt for your store, ensuring a smooth subscription experience for your visitors. Let's dive into the options and setup process.
1. Default Prompt
The Default Prompt is a browser-generated subscription alert displayed directly at the top of the screen. Due to browser restrictions, it cannot be customized.
Setup: You can configure the Default Prompt after selecting the opt-in timings.
2. Custom Prompt
The Custom Prompt is a subscription widget displayed at the top center of the screen, allowing personalization with your store's branding and messaging. It functions as a simulated interaction, prompting users to click on the website, which then triggers the default browser notification request for web push subscriptions. It essentially acts as a way to initiate user activity on the site.
Benefits
Reduces the block rate (when visitors click 'Block' instead of 'Allow').
Enables permission requests again if visitors initially decline.
Customization Options:
Upload store logo.
Input title and description.
Edit 'Allow' and 'Later' button text.
Select opt-in positions for desktop and mobile.
Set delay time for both desktop and mobile.
Preview text and logo changes in real-time.
Setup Process:
Save your customized settings.
The Custom Prompt allows visitors to either receive the prompt again later or subscribe immediately by clicking 'Allow.'
Once they click 'Allow,' the Default Prompt is displayed for final subscription approval.
Note:
Some browsers require user activity on the screen before showing the Default Prompt. Using a Custom Prompt helps initiate that activity, enabling the Default Prompt to appear.
3. No Prompt
The No Prompt option disables the opt-in alert for new visitors.
Impact: No new subscribers can be added while this option is active.
4. iOS Prompt
The iOS Prompt allows notifications for iOS devices, which do not support direct push notifications or Custom Prompts.
Setup Process:
Edit the title and description.
Once configured, visitors on iOS devices can follow these steps:
Open your website URL.
Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the web screen.
Select Add to Home Screen.
The website will appear as an icon on their home screen.
When visitors click the web app icon, a subscription prompt will appear.
