Frequently Asked Questions
Does Saved from cart work on all Shopify plans?
Yes. Saved from cart placements on the cart page, storefront ribbon, Wishlist tab, and new customer account are available across Shopify plans. The checkout placement is available only on Shopify Plus.
Is Saved from cart the same as Flits Wishlist?
No. They are separate features with different purposes.
- Wishlist lets customers save products they are interested in purchasing later.
- Saved from cart lets customers move products out of their cart without removing them permanently.
Customers can use both features at the same time.
Can customers have products in both Wishlist and Saved from cart?
Yes. A customer can have different products in their Wishlist and Saved from cart. If you enable the Extra tab in existing wishlist setup placement, customers can access both lists from the same Wishlist interface.
Does a saved product count toward the cart total?
No. When a product is moved to Saved from cart, it is removed from the cart and does not count toward:
- Cart subtotal
- Shipping calculations
- Cart-based discounts
- Minimum order value requirements
The product is included in these calculations again when the customer adds it back to the cart.
Can customers use Saved from cart without logging in?
Yes. Guests can save products from their cart. Guest saved products are associated with their browser session. If the customer clears browser data, changes browsers, or switches devices before logging in, their saved products may no longer be available.
What happens when a guest customer logs in?
If guest-to-account syncing is supported for the customer's session, their saved products can be associated with their customer account after login. For the most reliable cross-device experience, customers should log in before saving products.
What happens if a saved product goes out of stock?
The product can remain in the Saved from cart list, but the customer cannot add it back to the cart while it is unavailable. Once the product becomes available again, the customer can add it back to the cart.
What happens if the price of a saved product changes?
Saved products use the product's current price when they are viewed or added back to the cart. Saving a product does not lock its price.
What happens if a saved product is removed from the store?
If the product is no longer available, it may be removed from the customer's Saved from cart list.
Does Saved from cart work with subscription products?
Saved from cart saves the product and variant selected by the customer. If your store uses subscription products or a third-party subscription app, selling plan behaviour may vary. Test your subscription products after enabling Saved from cart.
If the selling plan is not restored correctly, contact Flits Support with the product details and steps to reproduce the issue.
Does Saved from cart work with bundle products?
Bundle behaviour can vary depending on how the bundle app creates and manages cart items. If your bundle products are not restored correctly after being saved, contact Flits Support with the bundle app name, product details, and steps to reproduce the issue.
Can customers share their Saved from cart products?
Saved from cart is designed as a personal list and does not provide product sharing. If your store has Wishlist sharing enabled, customers can use the Flits Wishlist sharing feature instead.
Troubleshooting
Saved from cart is not appearing on the cart page
Check the following:
- Open Flits > Features > Saved from cart.
- Make sure the Saved from cart toggle is On.
- Make sure at least one placement is selected.
- If you are using a customised theme, check whether the relevant Flits block needs to be added to the theme.
- Test the storefront in an incognito window.
If the issue continues, contact Flits Support with your store URL and a screenshot or recording of the issue.
The Save for later option is not appearing when removing products
- Go to Flits > Features > Saved from cart.
- Make sure Save cart items when removed is turned On.
- If Ask is selected, check whether another app or custom cart script is affecting the remove action.
- Test the behaviour in an incognito window.
Products are being removed instead of saved
Check your On cart item remove setting:
- Ask shows customers a choice between Save for later and Remove.
- Auto automatically saves the product when it is removed.
If the setting is correct and products are still being removed, test with a default Shopify theme to check for a theme or app conflict.
Saved for later is not appearing at checkout
The checkout placement is available only on Shopify Plus. If your store is on Shopify Plus:
- Go to Settings > Checkout > Customize in Shopify admin.
- Open the relevant checkout configuration.
- Check the Order summary section.
- Make sure the Saved for later (checkout) block has been added.
- Make sure the checkout configuration has been saved.
- Test with a customer who has at least one saved product.
- If your store has multiple checkout configurations, make sure the block has been added to the configuration being used.
The Add block to checkout option is unavailable
Make sure:
- Your store is on Shopify Plus.
- You have the required Shopify permissions to customize checkout.
- You are editing the correct checkout configuration.
If the option is still unavailable, contact Flits Support with a screenshot of the checkout setup page.
Saved products are different between the cart and checkout
Saved from cart uses the same saved product list across its placements. If the products appear different:
- Refresh the cart and checkout pages.
- Make sure you are using the same customer account or browser session.
- If you are testing as a guest, make sure browser data or cookies have not changed.
If the issue continues, contact Flits Support with the store URL, customer or test account details, and screenshots of both lists.
Guest saved products disappeared
Guest saved products are associated with the browser session. They may no longer be available if the customer:
- Clears browser data or cookies.
- Changes browsers.
- Switches devices.
- Uses a private or incognito browsing session and closes it.
Ask the customer to use the same browser session or log in to their account before saving products.
A saved product cannot be added back to the cart
Check whether:
- The product is still available.
- The selected variant is still available.
- The product has changed since it was saved.
- A third-party app is affecting the product or cart.
If the issue occurs consistently, contact Flits Support with the product URL, variant details, and steps to reproduce the issue.
A saved product has a different price when added back
Saved products do not lock the price at the time they are saved. The current product price is used when the product is viewed or added back to the cart.
Discounts change after adding a saved product back
Shopify recalculates cart discounts when the cart changes. For example, adding a saved product back may cause a customer to qualify for a discount they did not previously qualify for, or no longer qualify for a discount based on the updated cart conditions. This depends on the discount rules configured on the store.
