Wishlist Share lets your customers share their wishlist or any individual wishlist collection with friends and family via a direct link, email, or their favorite social platforms. This helps customers communicate gift ideas more easily and can also bring referral traffic back to your store.
By default, all supported sharing platforms are enabled. You can turn off any platform you do not want to offer, and the storefront share options will update automatically.
1. How to Enable Wishlist Share
- From your app dashboard, go to Wishlist enhancements.
- Find the Wishlist share card and click Set up.
- On the Features > Wishlist Share page, turn on Allow your customers to share their wishlist.
- Choose which platforms you want to make available to customers: WhatsApp, Instagram, X (Twitter), Pinterest, Facebook, and Email.
- Save your changes. Customers will now see a share option on their wishlist and collection pages.
2. Customer Experience
Once enabled, customers see a share icon (the branching arrow icon) on:
- Their My Wishlist page, which shares the whole Wishlisted products list.
- Any individual collection they have created, via the collection’s ⋮ (options) menu > Share Collection.
Tapping the share icon opens a Share Collection panel with quick-share icons for each enabled platform and a Copy link field containing a unique shareable URL for that wishlist or collection.
3. How Sharing Works
Most platforms use a native share flow. The customer taps the icon and their message, with the wishlist link already included, opens directly in that app or platform, ready to send.
WhatsApp, Email, Facebook, X (Twitter), and Pinterest
Clicking the icon opens the platform, app or web, with a pre-filled message that already includes the wishlist or collection name and link.
Example: Check out my “Wishlisted products” wishlist! [link]
The customer simply chooses a contact, board, timeline, or destination and sends it.
Instagram does not allow apps to pre-fill a direct message with a link, so the flow works a little differently:
- The customer clicks the Instagram icon.
- The wishlist or collection link is automatically copied to their clipboard, and they are redirected into Instagram.
- In Instagram, they choose the friend or group they want to share with.
- In the message box, they paste the copied link using Paste or Ctrl/Cmd + V.
- They send the message as usual.
Everything else about the experience stays the same. The only difference is that Instagram requires the customer to paste the copied link manually.
4. What the Shared Link Opens To
Anyone who opens the shared link lands on a public view of that wishlist or collection on your storefront, where they can browse the items. This is useful for gift shopping or for letting friends and family see what someone has saved.
5. Frequently Asked Questions
Can customers control who sees the link?
The link is shareable with anyone who has it, so customers should only send it to people they intend to show their wishlist or collection to.
Can I limit which platforms are shown?
Yes. Untick any platform on the Features > Wishlist Share settings page and it will no longer appear as a sharing option on the storefront.
Why does Instagram behave differently from the other platforms?
Instagram does not support receiving a pre-filled message from outside apps, so the closest equivalent flow is to copy the link automatically, open Instagram, and let the customer paste it into their selected conversation.
