API keys let you securely connect Flits to other tools. Each key authenticates your Flits API requests and is used to link third-party apps and integrations to your store. You can create keys, view and remove them, and reach the Flits API documentation - all from the API Keys section.

Important: your full token is shown only once, at the time you create it. Copy and save it before closing.

1. What an API Key Is For

  • It authenticates all Flits API requests, confirming the request is coming from your store.
  • It is the key you provide when connecting third-party apps and integrations to Flits.
  • You can generate more than one key, for example a separate key for each integration you set up.

2. How to Create an API Key

  1. Open the API Keys section in Flits.
  2. Click Create API Key button.
  3. Give the key a clear name, for example the name of the tool or integration it is for, so it is easy to identify later.
  4. Confirm to generate the key.
  5. Your new key appears in the list with its Name, Token, and Created date.
  6. Copy the token and save it right away. The full token is shown only at the moment you create it. Once you leave, it cannot be viewed or copied again.

Important

Your token is only displayed once, at the time of creation. After that it is masked and cannot be retrieved. Be sure to copy and save it before closing. If you lose it, you will need to delete the key and create a new one.

Tip

Name each key after the integration it powers, such as “App A key” or “Custom app”. If you ever need to remove access for one tool, you will know exactly which key to delete.

3. Managing & Deleting Keys

  • All your keys are listed with their Name, a masked Token, and the Created date.
  • To remove a key, click the delete (trash) icon next to it.
  • Deleting a key immediately revokes it. Any app or integration still using that key will stop working until you connect it with a new key.

4. Finding the API Documentation

The API Keys section also links to the Flits API Documentation, which covers setup instructions and endpoint details for building or connecting to the Flits API. Use the API Documentation link in that section to open it.

5. Keeping Your API Keys Secure

  • Treat your token like a password. Do not share it publicly or commit it into public code.
  • Use a separate key per integration so you can revoke one without affecting the others.
  • Delete keys you no longer use to reduce risk.

6. Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Flits API key used for?

It authenticates your Flits API requests and is used to connect third-party apps and integrations to your store.

Where do I use the key?

Paste it into whatever third-party app or integration asks for a Flits API key when you set up that connection.

Can I create more than one key?

Yes. You can create multiple keys. A good practice is one key per integration.

How do I delete a key?

Click the delete (trash) icon next to the key in the API Keys list. This revokes it right away.

What happens if I delete a key that is still in use?

Any integration using that key stops working until you reconnect it with a new key.

I didn’t copy my token. Can I see it again?

No. The full token is shown only once, when you create the key. After that it stays masked and cannot be retrieved. If you do not have it saved, delete the key and create a new one.

Where can I find the API documentation?

Use the API Documentation link in the API Keys section for setup instructions and endpoint details.

Is the token sensitive?

Yes. Anyone with your token can make API requests as your store, so keep it private and delete keys you no longer need.
