Overview

If translations are not appearing correctly, the issue is usually related to Shopify language publishingdraft statustheme overrides, or cached content. This guide helps diagnose and resolve common translation problems.

1. Translation Not Showing on Storefront

Possible Causes:

  • The language is draft in Shopify
  • The language is not added or saved in Flits
  • Browser cache is displaying older text
  • Theme overrides wishlist labels
  • Wrong storefront language is selected

Fix:

  1. Publish the language in Shopify

    • Shopify Admin → Settings → Languages → Publish

  2. Re-save translations inside Flits

  3. Hard-refresh browser (Shift + Cmd/Ctrl + R)

  4. Switch storefront to the correct language

2. Translation Appears Only Partially

Possible Causes:

  • Some fields were left untranslated

  • Theme uses custom Liquid code for labels

  • Translation exists in Flits but language still draft in Shopify

Fix:

  • Review all fields under Flits Wishlist → Translation

  • Publish the language in Shopify

  • Search the theme for hardcoded English text (common in PDP templates)

3. English Appears Instead of Translated Text

This is the normal fallback behavior.

Flits will show English if:

  • A translation field is missing

  • The language is draft in Shopify

  • Translation contains unsupported characters

  • Theme overrides text

4. Translations Not Working on Mobile

Cause:

Some themes use separate mobile templates.

Fix:

  • Ensure mobile templates use Flits classes

  • Add translations for any custom mobile snippets

  • Clear mobile browser cache

5. Confirming Language Activation

To show wishlist translations:

✔ The language must be added & translated in Flits
 ✔ The language must be
added & published in Shopify
✔ The customer must view the storefront in that language
