Overview
Flits Wishlist supports multilingual storefronts by allowing you to add translations for all wishlist-related UI text.
English is always the default language.
Translations will only appear on your storefront when the language is published in Shopify and translated inside Flits. Draft languages will not show on the storefront.
1. How to Add Languages in Flits Wishlist
Open Flits Wishlist in Shopify Admin
Go to Settings → Translation
Click Add Language
Select a language from the list
Flits loads all translatable fields for that language
Add or edit the translations
Click Save
Important Notes:
Adding a language in Flits does not automatically activate it on the storefront
Customers will see translations only when that language is published in Shopify
Draft languages remain hidden even if translations exist
2. Draft vs. Published Languages (How They Behave)
Draft Languages
You can translate them in Flits
Helpful for preparing translations before going live
Not visible to customers on the storefront
Wishlist elements will still use English fallback
Published Languages
Must be added and published inside Shopify → Settings → Languages
Once published, Flits will display wishlist translations for that language
Customers can switch to this language on your storefront
Publishing a language inside Flits does NOT publish it for the Shopify store.
You must publish it from Shopify’s Language settings.
3. How Language Detection Works
Flits follows Shopify’s active storefront language.
When a customer views your store in a specific language:
Shopify determines the active language
Flits checks if translation exists for that language
If available and the language is published → Flits displays the translated text
If translation is missing → Flits automatically falls back to English
If language is in draft mode → Flits shows English, even if translations are entered
4. Fallback Behavior
If any translated field is missing or incomplete:
Flits displays English, the default language
This ensures no broken or untranslated strings appear on storefront
5. Shopify Language Requirement
To show wishlist translations, two conditions must be met:
✔ Add and translate the language in Flits
✔ Publish the same language in Shopify
Publishing language in Flits does not make it appear on the storefront unless Shopify also has that language published.
6. Troubleshooting Translation Visibility
If translations are not showing:
Check if the language is published in Shopify
Ensure translation is saved in Flits
Clear browser cache (Shift + Cmd/Ctrl + R)
Confirm theme does not override labels with Liquid text
Make sure language is not in draft mode in Shopify
