Flits Wishlist integrates with your storefront using Shopify’s Online Store 2.0 App Embeds. This method ensures a clean, code-free installation that is stable across theme updates. Once enabled, the embed loads all wishlist UI components, including product-page buttons, collection-page icons, and the wishlist page layout.

This article explains how to enable the theme embed and verify correct placement.


Why App Embeds Are Required

Flits Wishlist uses Shopify’s app blocks and embeds to:

  • Display wishlist buttons on product pages

  • Display icons on collection pages

  • Generate the wishlist page layout

  • Load the variant popup

  • Track wishlist interactions correctly

If the embed is not enabled, wishlist elements will not appear on the storefront even if the app is installed.


Method 1: Add Wishlist to All Themes

This is the recommended setup for most merchants.

  1. Open Flits Wishlist in Shopify admin

  2. Click Add Flits to All Themes

  3. Shopify Theme Editor opens automatically

  4. In the left sidebar → open App Embeds

  5. Toggle Flits Wishlist → ON

  6. Click Save

This activates wishlist functionality across:

  • Product pages

  • Collection pages

  • Wishlist landing page

  • Customer account page (if enabled)

Tip: If you manage multiple theme versions (live + draft), enable the embed on both to avoid losing wishlist buttons during theme switches.


Method 2: Enable for a Specific Theme

Useful for testing.

  1. In the app, click Try Flits in a Specific Theme

  2. Select an unpublished theme

  3. Enable Flits Wishlist under App Embeds

  4. Save

  5. Click Preview to test without affecting your live store

This allows your team to test design, button placement, and layout before making it public.


Verifying the Embed Is Active

After saving, check:

  • Product pages → wishlist button appears

  • Collection pages → wishlist icon overlay appears

  • Wishlist page → loads with saved items

  • Variant popup → opens when adding variable products

  • Customer account page → wishlist link appears if enabled

If any of these do not appear:

  • Reopen Theme Editor

  • Confirm the embed toggle is ON

  • Ensure no theme code overrides the default button containers

  • Re-save the embed settings


Best Practices for Merchants

  • Keep only one wishlist app active to avoid UI conflicts

  • Test placement on a product with multiple variants

  • Confirm mobile layout looks clean before publishing

  • Re-enable the embed whenever switching themes
