Introduction
Rewarding customers according to order status ensures that loyalty points are issued only once significant milestones are hit such as placing, paying for, or fulfilling an order. This strategy keeps your rewards secure, reduces fraud, and makes sure points are given for genuine completed transactions (not canceled or pending orders).
How It Works
Placed:
Points are issued as soon as the order is placed in your store.Paid:
Points are granted only after successful payment, rewarding customers for confirmed transactions.Fulfilled:
Points are released once the order has been fulfilled, guaranteeing rewards for completed deliveries.
How to set up points by Order Status
Go to your Loyalty Program > Settings > Loyalty settings > Reward based on order status
Choose which order status (“Placed,” “Paid,” or “Fulfilled”) should trigger points issuance using the radio buttons.
Save your settings.
Note: Points will only be awarded after the Shopify order matches the status you’ve selected.
Tips
Select the order status that aligns with your overall loyalty strategy and risk level:
“Placed” is best for fast rewards but doesn’t prevent abuse.
“Paid” ensures points go to customers who’ve completed payment.
“Fulfilled” is safest if you want to reward only after product delivery.
