Introduction

The Incremental Points rule lets customers earn a set number of loyalty points for every amount spent on an order. Merchants can control earning frequency, expiry, and notifications so reward programs remain engaging and manageable.

Key Features

  • Increment-Based Points:
Customers earn a defined number of points for every $1 spent. For example, 100 points per $1.

  • Earning Limit:
Merchants can restrict how many times this reward can be earned (e.g. “1 time per lifetime” ensures customers only earn this reward once in their account’s life).

  • Reward Expiry:
Set an expiry (e.g. 30 days) so points earned on orders will expire if not used within that time.

  • Customer Notifications:
Enable email and/or push notifications to alert customers when they earn points from their orders.

  • Status & Management:
Set rule “Active” to allow earning. “Inactive” disables earning but allows customers to still place orders. Merchants can delete the rule anytime.

Setup Steps

  1. Choose Earning Value:

    • Select “Increment of Points” for per-dollar earnings.

  2. Configure Points Per Dollar:

    • Enter points (e.g. “100 points for every $1 spent”).

  3. Set Earning Limit:

    • Limit how many times customers can earn on this action. Choose amount and interval (e.g. “1 per lifetime”).

    •  If the earning limit is exhausted, it resets 24 hours after the last points were earned.

  4. Enable Reward Expiry:

    • Decide how long points are valid (e.g. “Expire after 30 days”).

    • If expiry is set to 1 day, points will expire if unused within 24 hours.

  5. Add Comment:

    • Explain the reason for receiving reward (e.g. “Received 100 points for every $1 spent”).

  6. Activate Notifications:

    • Enable mail and push options as desired.

  7. Save & Activate:

    • Switch rule to “Active” and save changes.

Best Practices

  • Reward Consistency: Keep fixed points simple (e.g., 50–100 per order) to make tracking easy.

  • Encourage Repeat Purchases: Pair fixed points with time-limited expiry to drive faster repurchases.

  • Use Limits Wisely: Avoid over-rewarding by setting daily or per-order earning caps.

  • Track Engagement: Review earning reports to adjust points based on customer activity.

Notes & Plan Availability

  • The Earning Limit and Reward Expiry features are available in the Growth and Established plans only.

  • Free Plan users can set basic fixed points per order but cannot restrict frequency or expiry.
